Christmas Coins for Kids

As one of our Christmas service projects the students helped our local community "Koins for Kids" group.  They helped set up at the community center and wrap and organize gifts.  Originally the boys were only scheduled to help on one of the days.  However, they did such a good job, the directors of the group were so impressed that they asked the boys to come out again the next day to continue helping!!

We are so proud of these young men!

our mission statement is to mobilize people and resources for creating solutions to community needs.  we accomplish this with a whole bunch of super-great youth volunteers like those at Diamond Ranch Academy!!

Happy Holidays!  Merry Christmas!  And a very Happy New Year, from Diamond Ranch Academy.

We appreciate your trust and support during this Holiday Season to watch over and take care of your students.  We hope this video from Ricky Dias and DRA will be helpful to you this day.  We are excited to spend this time with your students and we enjoy the opportunity to share with them the joy and blessings this season brings.

Fondue for you...

We had a mentor benefit that we invited some of our students that are doing really well. We invited Tommy and Charlie to the benefit and we had a fondue fountain and a few different items to dunk/drench in chocolate. The boys loved it and had an awesome time.

Students top ten things to fondue;

  1. Oreo cookies ( sounds bad but really is pretty good)

  2. Pretzels

  3. Bannanas

  4. Strawberries

  5. Graham Crackers

  6. Chocolate Chip Cookies ( as if there wasn't enough chocolate in them already)

  7. Vanilla Wafers

  8. Apples

  9. Pineapple

  10. Potato Chips ( didn't have them there this time but maybe next time)

We played dominoes to give the students a visual aid on how they need to have their "tiles" or "priorities" lined up in order to win the game. It was surprising to see how they did in the game and then related it to their own programs.

The End Result!!!

Auction Night

We had an auction on Friday with the boys and these are the items that were available to be purchased. The boys were soooo excited when we opened the bag and presented the goods.
RULES;
  • Students can only buy 2 items

  • They could not go into the negative

  • There was a dorm prize that everyone in the dorm could pitch in.
  • And they had to eat it during the movie.

Drew was the fortunate one to get this Butterfinger.  The boys quickly caught on and found out there was more than one item available.

This was one of the "grand prizes" it was a king size caramello . (Jake is also a mentor and on the A-Team, he has 2 jobs that pay him pretty well so he felt he could afford it)

Ethan finally won this butterfinger.

Drew is so excited because he was waiting for this
one to come up for bidding. This was one of the dorm prizes.

Tommy was the first to get a twix and as you can see he was excited!!

John won this for the mentor dorm. They all had to pool their resources though!!! My bet is that it was worth it!!!

You have to look really hard to find the candy but Trevor was more excited to win this then a car.

Jake was happy he won this but wanted to eat it not take a picture.

Gates was so frustrated that he did not have enough money to buy the candy bars at the beginning but then he got lucky and won this.

Real Men build stuff

IT'S A RACE!!!

Look at this team work!!!!So halfway through they finally got out the directions!!!!
Now we are getting somewhere. We took an intermission and asked the boys a question about their level work. If they answered the question correctly they won the ability to use a power drill to assist them in the building of the bookshelves! Unfortunaltely the boys were unable to answer the question correctly and they continued on without the power tool.
The Reward!!                                          The clean up!!

FINISHED PRODUCT!!!!
Lava Falls won the contest but not by much. The boys really had fun with the competition. It taught them that they can have fun with the simple things.

Diamond Ranch Academy's Clinical Department takes the plunge

We stumbled upon some great photos that were "lost" (were they really, or did the clinical team try to make sure no one would find them?  Hmm...)  We won't go into the who, what, and how.  Nor will we reveal the name or names of the person or people who got hold of these photos.  Just be sure to tell your therapist you saw them!!  Ha!  Ha!! Ha!!
