A recently graduated student left his mark on DRA by erecting a "Monument to Graduates". Each graduate from DRA will be able to add their name to this massive 8 foot totem pole. The student can engrave their name and graduation date on a diamond shaped metal plate which is then nailed to the monument. As Forest stated when shared why he wanted to make this monument, graduation from DRA is not easy. It takes hard work and determination. This monument, like the lessons learned at DRA, will not easily fade away.
The log was retrieved from Kolob Mountain, with the help of Kelby and Brad. It was then squared and sanded and Forest added these words: "There is no passion to be found in playing small, in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." (Nelson Mandela)
The pathway that leads up to the monument was hand laid by graduates and molded with care and enthusiasm. The pathway represents the small and large challenges that come along while on your way to becoming a graduate through the use of large flat paving stones and small sharp pebbles. It is hoped that this monument will serve as inspiration for all students to set a goal of nothing less than graduation from Diamond Ranch Academy.
To all those who had a hand in creating this great monument, thank you!!
